Course on Local Sustainability and Action
Venice International University - November 2 - 9, 2008
The Course is organised by VIU in collaboration with The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), Agroinnova and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability and it is supported by the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea (IMELS).
35 representatives of local, regional and national authorities and members of the business community are selected to be involved in this advanced training course. Participants will come from several European and Asian countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia , Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and also Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
After a common session of two days, thematic sessions will follow. These will face three important themes such as: Sustainable City, Climate and Energy in a Sustainable City, and Enforcement and Assessments for Sustainability.
On the closing day a high level panel discussion and a role playing game are scheduled with the aim of involving the participants in an active way and to promote their future commitment on sustainable development.
