The Advanced Training Program is a long-term project that focuses on the role of managers and civil servants who will be active and responsible for a global approach to sustainable development and environmental protection. In particular the program focuses on a sustainable approach to environmental, social and, economic issues in the People's Republic of China.

Since 2003, the Program organized more than 130 training courses; by the end of 2009 the Chinese trainees involved will be more than 5000. They are selected from different provinces by the Chinese partner institutions among representatives of the Chinese government, universities and private sector.

Approximately 450 lecturers have been involved and selected among outstanding representatives of the academia, the public sector and private companies, as to cover a wide range of topics and to present practical case studies in the frame of sustainable development issues.
